TIBET BURNING: GLOBAL INTERVENTION TO SAVE LIVES
Tibet is in a crisis. Over 60 years of China's rule in Tibet has worrsened with continued oppression of basic.
Since 2008, Tibetan resistance against China's rule has grown and intensifieed with mass protests sweeping Tibetan plateau.
Since March 2009, over 100 Tibetans have set fire to themselvesin the eastern Tibet of which at least 84 Tibetans are known tio have dead.
A new wave of protests broke out in January 2012 with demonstrators calling for freedom in Tibet and the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet. In their restless efforts of crackdown on self-immolations, the Chinese regime actively engages in arbitrary arrests, detention, intimidation, and long-term imprisonment. At least seven Tibetans were sentanced up to 12 years over self-immolation.
On 31January, the Intermedia People's Court of Ngba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture handed Lobsang Kunchok, 40, with death penalty with two years reprieve and deprivation of political rights for life.
China's merciless and violent crackdown through Tibet is intensifying Tibetan grievances and exacerbating the resentment felt across Tibet. This growing tragedy, if left unchecked, could spiral even further into a nation-wide crisis, unless the world acts now.
The international community, both and governments, must stand up for Tibet; Global diplomatic invention now will save Tibetan lifes.
Tibetans, Tibet Groups, and Tibetan Supporters around the world are working tirelessly to push world government to urgently establish an appropriate and effective multi-lateral mechanism through which future diplomatoc actions for Tibet can be implemented. The scale of the this crisis and China's continued unwillingness to acknowledge concern warrents a strong international response.
